Fishing for shimmering mackerel - a watercolour illustration

Updated: 10 hours ago

Sadly we haven't had any fishing opportunities for a while now, but a few summers ago, we had a small catch of shimmering mackerel just off the coast of Gurnard, Isle of Wight.

I'm counting down the days until we can head out to sea again, but in the meantime I've been trialing my new Coliro ocean shimmer palette on this mackerel watercolour illustration. It's perct for painting shimmering mackerel and shiny fish. The photo doesn't do the paint justice, but in the sunlight it has a beautiful shiny glow that makes them pop off the page.
